Are You Search Friendly?

-

mobile search friendly websitesIs your company search friendly? If the answer is no, then why not? Even if you think your company isn’t being searched at all or very often, chances are you’re wrong. Consumers are conducting billions of searches every day, and they are searching for everything from top local restaurants to security services.

According to a recent YP Local Insights Digital Report, top search categories for the first quarter of this year included everything you might expect such as restaurants, financial services, auto repair, real estate and beauty services. But, you might be surprised that some of the fastest growing search categories include auto parts, security services, family services and more.

In addition to searching for more and more services online, the number of people searching from their mobile phone has almost surpassed traditional online searching, which means you need to make sure you have a mobile website. Top mobile search cities include San Francisco, Layfayette, Baton Rouge, Orlando and St. Louis. Leading the way for traditional online searches included residents of Atlanta, Miami, Tampa and Birmingham, but we suspect this will start to change.

What does all this mean? It means that your company’s marketing strategy needs to include strategies for staying relevant in online searches both on the computer and on a smartphone or tablet. You need to utilize search engine optimization and brand management to make sure your name appears in all relevant searches in your area.
