This holiday season, retailers will need to focus their efforts not just on their in-store, but also on their mobile shopping experience. According to Deloitte‘s 28th annual survey of holiday shopping intentions, 68 percent of responders plan to use their smartphone during their holiday shopping.
For the first time ever in these annual surveys, the Internet finally trumped the in-store experience when it comes to where consumers expect to shop. In fact, 47 percent of shoppers plan to shop online; either from their desktop or mobile device, while another 44 percent plan to visit department stores. However, these shoppers aren’t just browsing online, 38 percent plan to spend a majority of their budget online.
Here’s how holiday shoppers plan to use their mobile device during holiday shopping:
- 56% to find store locations
- 54% to compare prices
- 47% to get product information
- 45% to shop online
- 44% to read reviews
- 40% to check product availability
- 36% to use discounts and coupons
Businesses that experience a surge of sales during the holidays need to be prepared this year not only with festive in-store displays, but also with mobile-friendly websites. The holidays are a busy time of year, and you don’t want to miss out on the joy of the season because your website isn’t up to date or easy for consumers to navigate. Businesses can also spread the spirit of giving by creating special mobile offers that consumers can redeem either in store or online.
With more buyers shopping online during the holidays and all year long, there has never been a better time to design a mobile website. Give us a call today at 847-259-7312 to get started.
