National Exposure for Local Home Builder

mRELEVANCE public relations team members subscribe to a local “media match” service with which we receive inquiries from area reporters seeking interview sources with specific backgrounds, experiences, etc. We received a query on March 6, 2013 from reporter Steve Matthews at Bloomberg, who was conducting research for a story on the economic impact of homebuilding and wanted to speak with a contractor/subcontractor, construction worker, mortgage broker, new home sales person, etc. He was specifically looking to interview this group working together on one particular home or development.
After seeing the query, one of our Account Managers pitched Windsong Properties because even though they are a small, local, and exclusively active adult home builder (Windsong Properties sold 53 homes in 2013), they had done some recent hiring. In that month alone, the builder hired a new estimator and sales manager. After getting the okay from Windsong to pitch the reporter, the Account Manager reached out to the reporter.
After the original pitch, our Account Manager followed-up with the reporter in order to confirm that Windsong was going to be included in the story. Following-up was key to also ensuring that the reporter had all of the information he needed for the story. We could tell that he appreciated this next step, as he thanked us for helping him out and sent us the link to the story, “Housing Juggernaut Seen Spurring 500,000 New U.S. Workers,” which originally appeared in Bloomberg (circulation: 989,186), and then ran in Builder Online (circulation: 111,558) and Daily Business Review (circulation: 8,082).
