How to Get Your Name in the Media

In May, mRELEVANCE did just that for one of our newest public relations clients, Fortress Builders.

Fortress Builders, a new home builder in metro Atlanta, planned to host grand opening events for two of its Cobb County communities on May 6 and wanted to invite as many real estate agents and potential home buyers as possible to celebrate with them. The event itself was to consist of a luncheon at Brookstone Manor, an active adult community, and then a guided tour of Church Hill, a single-family home community. Participants were also to be given the opportunity to be entered to win door prizes worth up to $500.

So, before the event, mRELEVANCE sent a news release and pitch letter to The Marietta Daily Journal, one of Cobb County’s largest media publications. A news release effectively and succinctly announces something about a company to members of the media, whether it is a change in leadership or a grand opening event. The purpose of a pitch letter is to persuade journalists that a particular story idea about a company would be interesting to a journalist’s readers. In this case, mRELEVANCE had to convince a reporter that Fortress Builders’ grand opening event would be relevant and interesting to the newspaper’s readers.

And we did!

Because the majority of the newspaper’s readers live in Cobb County, where the communities were located and the event was to be held, a reporter provided readers with a full article about Fortress Builders, including not only information about the grand opening event, but also about the features of the communities’ new homes and their starting prices.

The grand opening event was a success, with real estate agents and new home buyers flocking to the builder’s two communities, and many of them heard about the event through The Marietta Daily Journal. So, thanks to a simple news release and pitch letter written and sent by mRELEVANCE, Fortress Builders’ name and new communities are better known around Cobb County and also around Atlanta.
